[/b][/color][/b][/font][/size]BEIJING (AP) — Chinese state media says 17 people have been sentencedto terms from three years to life for their alleged roles in riots inthe Tibetan capital of Lhasa last month.

Xinhua News Agency did not immediately give any other details Tuesday.

The anti-government riots that broke out March 14 left the Tibetancapital scarred with burned out buildings. China has said that 22people died in the unrest while Tibetan exile groups say many timesthat number were killed in the violence and following crackdown.

Xinhua said Tuesday that authorities reopened a Buddhist monastery inLhasa to tourists. Tibet and the surrounding provinces where protestsbroke out have been closed to foreigners since the unrest.
